Sometimes . . . for me . . . praying is hard!
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:6
“God can refuse nothing to a praying church.” – John Chrysostom (Church Father and Archbishop of Constantinople)
“ We cannot suppose that God will do for us without prayer what he has promised to do for us only through prayer.” – Harold Lindsell (Author and Editor)
“I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.” – Martin Luther
“Prayer can never be in excess.” – C. H. Spurgeon
If I am honest, I often struggle with the value of prayer. I would always agree that prayer is essential but I often overlook it as I fill my schedule with the business of “doing God’s work.” Prayer gets relegated to the back-burner as “more important things” take up my time and focus. I lose sight of the truth.
During this season of Lent and season of final preparation towards the launch of Redemption Church I cannot help but to be challenged to reassess my practical priorities. It isn’t enough for me to say that prayer is essential. I must live it out. I want to challenge you to do the same. As Easter and our launch quickly approach I ask that we continually return to God in prayer.
As Paul tells us in Philippians 4, let us thankfully and consistently take our prayers before God. As we work as a team together towards launch I want to encourage you to soak this process in prayer.
Will you join me in focused daily prayer for our launch, for our launch team, and for our city?
“I am persuaded that God does everything by prayer and nothing without it.” – John Wesley
