Discover Your Purpose

My husband, Kris, and our two boys, Elijah (2), and Remy (7 months) are so excited to embark on a new season of life with Redemption Church.  One year ago we would have never guessed we’d be living in Charlottesville and a part of Redemption’s Launch team.

Kris and I were heavily involved with ministry at a great church in Fairfax for 6 years.  We went through a lot in those 6 years, like getting engaged, then married, and having our first child. We knew our time there was coming to an end so that God could create a new chapter in our lives.  Kris began working for George Mason University in 2014, and we took a break from the ministry.

We had our second child, Remy, in May 2015, and moved within one week to Charlottesville.  We’d thought about moving here for a couple of years since my parents live in the area and our lives would be able to slow down.  We could focus on our family rather than the busyness that seemed to constantly be surrounding us.  But those were the only reasons we moved…and not knowing our purpose was confusing.

I was selfishly thrilled to be back where I grew up and have my parents down the street, but it was a little bit harder for Kris.  He spent his whole life in Northern Virginia, and this was new territory, with new people, and a new lifestyle.

What was next for us?  Because there had to be more to our lives as Christ followers than just living a “normal” life.  I’d be lying if I said we didn’t like “normal.”  Normal is easy.  But it’s also unfulfilling.  That was where we were stuck.  We knew there had to be more to why we moved, but we had no clue where to start.

Kris received a text from our good friend, David, about Jon and Rebecca starting Redemption Church in Charlottesville.  We brushed it aside because, frankly, we were still on hiatus indefinitely from ministry.  But I couldn’t shake the thought of what if this is what God wanted next for our family?  Ironically (or not), Kris met with Jon exactly one year to the day that we left our previous church.  Our families met the following day, and we haven’t looked back.

We look forward to being a part of Redemption and growing deeper in our walk with the Lord.  We have a renewed passion to serve others and to share the good news of Christ.

We are created for a purpose. God makes no mistakes, and can use you wherever you are.  That’s the beauty about our Lord.  We look forward to this new season in our lives with Redemption Church, and we look on with anticipation to what God has in store for the city of Charlottesville.

So proud of our children and what our Lord have in store for their future. What an awesome blessing indeed it is, to witness how our children embark on their own journey of faith. Thank you Lord Jesus!
